Okugawa grew up in the Kyoto Sanga FC’s youth academy and was a member of their U-15 and U-18 teams. He signed a professional contract with Kyoto Sanga FC in 2014. In June 2015, he transferred to Red Bull Salzburg, a top tier soccer club in the Austrian Bundeliga.
