Plays forward on Japan’s U20 team
Born in Saitama on April 17th, 2002
Height: 176 cm / Weight: 78 kg
A hockey player since 3 years old, playing with the Saitama Junior Warriors in his hometown. Yu became determined to play internationally by 5th grade.
Ages 11-15: Studies abroad to Moscow and plays with Krylya Sovetov Moscow, the city’s renowned ice hockey team.
Age 16: Travels independently to Finland and becomes leading scorer in the league.
Age 17: First Asian import in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and plays with the Quebec Remparts.
Selected to play on the national U20 team, contributing to winning the the IIHF World U20 Championship Division II.
Age 18: Plays with the Lincoln Stars, a junior ice hockey team in the United States Hockey League (USHL). Aims to become the first Japanese forward to play in the National Hockey League (NHL).
